How Systems Work Part 1 : Quests

Please note that this was published with v0.13, upcoming versions might have different options/results.

Quests play a vital role in Enominar, as they explain the storyline of the island, and reward the player with experience, items and gold. But how do they work?

Beginning with Quest Dialog, we can see from the screen (1) Below that we’ve got numerous options to approach the NPC. With each options from the dialog the player can alter slightly the response of the NPC, as well the reward of the quests too, even to abandon the quest.

Screen 1, Initial Dialog Options

By Choosing the 1st Option in the dialog as seen in Screen 2, you choose the “Right/Honorable” Path, and you’ll get the default reward. The 2nd Option is bargaining about the reward, as seen from Screen 3, the player has 2 different types of approach, Persuasion and Intimidation. The first is using the Charisma of the character and the second the Strength of the character, with these options the player has a change for a greater reward, but also a chance for a smaller reward.

By using the 3rd Option in first dialog, you’re declining the NPC’s quest, but it will be available again whenever the player desires to accept it. By using the 3rd option in Screens 2 and 3, The dialog moves one level before, so you’re given the option to approach the NPCs as you like, honorable or for personal glory.

Now for the Actual Quest, most Quests are pretty simple and easy to do, moving an object around, talking to an NPC or killing a number of mobs.

For example, the Quest Lurkers, As seen in Screen 4, required the player to kill 6 wolfs, for each one you kill the text is updated with how many more you’ve got to kill to complete it.

Screen 4, Quest Log Window

in Screen 4, as I killed 2 wolfs till i took the Screenshot, the amount of wolfs i still need to kill is 4 instead of 6 at the beginning, also note that its for level 6, since i’m playing on Hard Difficulty.

In order to assist the player, the Game features a Navigation Arrow, that moves the player towards the Point/Person of Interest that he needs to Talk/Fight/Find. In Screen 5, the Navigation arrow locates and turns towards the closest wolf to me.

Screen 6, Target Health Information

Now that i was able to find the wolf, I target him, and the Target Health Window appears with information about the wolf, like health level and such.

Once i’m finished with a quest, the Quest Window text has been changed to “Return back..” and so on, as seen in Screen 7, and the Navigation arrow Rotates towards the NPC that I’ve got to report.

That’s pretty much it! See you on a later Tutorial on Systems of the game!
